After a long and cold winter, the Red Bird Mission is excited to kick off a brand new growing season! It’s the perfect time to shake off the frost and get our hands in the dirt again. Whether you are a new member or a returning gardener, we are so happy to see you and can’t wait to start planting!
This year, we are welcoming 55 members to the Red Bird Mission/Grow Appalachia program. Some of you are new faces, and some of you have been with us for many years. We are excited to meet our new gardeners and reconnect with the veteran gardeners who have been a part of our community for a while. Together, we will work hard to grow delicious, healthy food and share lots of fun and learning along the way.
Why is this season so special?
Spring brings new opportunities, and we are ready to take on the challenges that come with it. We will plant seeds, grow vegetables, and enjoy watching the gardens come to life. It’s amazing to see how a tiny seed can turn into something big and beautiful. As the weather warms up, we’ll be busy tending to our plants, learning new gardening tips, and helping each other out along the way.
For many people, gardening is more than just growing food. It’s about connecting with the earth, being outside in nature, and spending time with friends and neighbors. At Red Bird Mission, we work together to make sure everyone has the tools and support they need to succeed. No one has to garden alone!
What to expect this year
This year’s growing season will be full of learning opportunities. We’ll have gardening workshops, workdays, and plenty of chances to ask questions. If you’re a new gardener, don’t worry – we’re here to help! Our experienced gardeners will be there to share their wisdom and tips.
We’ll also be focusing on growing a variety of fruits and vegetables, like tomatoes, beans, peppers, and more. You’ll learn how to care for these plants from start to finish, and hopefully, you’ll get to enjoy the fruits of your labor by the end of the season!
Let’s Get Started!
As we kick off this growing season, we want to remind everyone that gardening is a team effort. Whether you’re new to the program or have been with us for years, we’re all here to help one another. Together, we’ll make this season the best one yet!
We can’t wait to see all the new plants grow and all the smiles as we work in the gardens. Let’s make this season full of fun, learning, and lots of fresh food!
Here’s to a great start to the growing season at Red Bird Mission! Happy planting, everyone! 🌱🌻🌽
