Hello Friends, checking in with you again from the beautiful campus at Red Bird Mission. Between helping some of our members and keeping our own campus gardens maintained, we have been keeping busy to say the least. It seems as though since the last time we spoke, and with the late spring rains, the gardens have really started to take off.  In our campus gardens, we have been dealing with crow issues, as they were pulling our corn and some beans. We ended up tying a string over each row last week and so far it seems to be working. We have also been harvesting some of our cole crops from earlier this spring, which include kohlrabi, broccoli, cauliflower, and several different kinds of cabbage.

We have been having great turnouts from our members and guests at our Grow App meetings, where we have been averaging around 60 people each meeting. Our next meeting will be on June 22, two days before our Red Bird Farmers Market is set to open for the season. We will be joined by Sharon Spencer, Director of Direct Farm Marketing, Kentucky Dept. of Agriculture, to discuss our market and ways to develop good marketing solutions. We are so excited for our farmers market to get started and our community to come together over good food again.
