If you missed 60 Minutes this past Sunday, I wanted to share the story of Tabasco.

Tabasco is a family company that has been growing their peppers and developing the famous sauce for almost 150 years. Produced on Avery Island, Louisiana for five generations of the same family.  The seeds that grow the special peppers are heirloom and have been protected by the family, unchanged, for over 150 years. They keep the seeds locked up in a vault in their corporate headquarters. They won’t sell out to a corporate buy-out, they are committed to doing things the way they have been done for so many years. They say to modernize, would sacrifice flavor.

Reminded me of Grow Appalachia and the journey of connecting with our agricultural past. Great story, and I sure do love Tabasco.
