Hello Everyone! This is Rhonda West reporting from Scott County TN.

We really enjoyed the “All Hands Gathering” in Berea.  Everyone shared a lot of useful information. Since then, we have been busy at Scott Christian Care Center.  We had our collaborative meeting with our team members from KY and TN.

New Salem Mission team arrived Feb 20 and worked until Feb 26 framing the next phase of the building project.  This is office space, library, computer stations, food and household pantries, prayer room and office rental.

We also attended the 2020 Compassion Ministry Meeting, “Poverty: Understanding and Engaging”.

We have been able to work with 6 men who are incarcerated.  These men are doing volunteer work while giving back to the community.  This work release program enables them to gain jobs skills, build relationships and life skills.  They hang sheet rock, finish sheet rock, paint, lay tile, grout, trim work, etc.

We are very excited about all the progress that is happening in the new facility.

Grow Appalachia will meet March 5, 2020 at 6:00 at Winfield Municipal Center.  This weeks topic :  “Introduction to Grow Appalachia”, which will include:  about the Program, Introduction to the Team, Garden Planning, Soil Samples, and Information about the Farmer’s Market.  We look forward to seeing you there!
