Why does it seem like the last of late garden vegetables taste so good? Our Canning classes have been really goo this year. They are winding down now. The late tomatoes have been made into salsa. We will be canning potatoes next. We just finished eating the last of the corn. The ears were just small nubbin ears. But they tasted good and I savored every bite.
The individuals making up the Canning and Preserving Classes were Grow Appalachia Gardeners and families from the community. The discussion while working quickly went to next year and the topic of course was gardens and what to do differently if we have a repeat of weather and things that happened this year.
In closing, we here at Project Worth wish everyone a Great Fall Season. Also to tell everyone that we have a new person on board here at Project Worth. He will be training to fill in for Alex Sanders, who took a position with Gateway Head Start. We miss Alex and wish great things for him in his new line of work. The new person is William “Will” Mills. He is the new Site Supervisor. We look forward to working with Will.
