Veterans serve. Abroad and at home. They serve in many ways, and normally that service does not end after they separate from the military.  This program is an example of that.  Below is a picture of Kevin and Ryan, two of our Veterans who are establishing the Veterans Farm in Ripley, WV. This farm will be a sight where folks can not only get amazing, freshly grown food, but they can also learn how to grown and preserve food and most importantly they can heal their wounds. Wounds of the soul, wounds that are deep seated where the general public cannot see them. The kind that don’t go away on their own.

Still in the trenches

Working in the trenches, planting tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, and various other delicious food items, our Veterans spend time together, working as a team to complete a mission. The mission is not that of normal combat, but instead to combat the isolation and pain that comes with the demons and the aftermath of military service.

So, on this Memorial Day, please remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice; but also think of those who gave some part of themselves. Theirs’ is a fight that will last a lifetime. If you know of a Veteran that is suffering, please refer them to a organization that can help them. Our Veterans farm, although located in Ripley, WV is open to all Veterans, currently serving Military (Active Duty, Reservists, and Guardsmen).
