Happy Memorial Day Weekend!!
This week was another productive week in the Over-the-Rhine People’s Garden! We were fortunate to have Paul Mitchell the School Cincinnati’s Green Team members volunteer for a few hours yesterday. Together we weeded the garlic and sour cherries beds, cleaned up gardening plots for this weekend and we planted a bed filled with fruits, veggies and herbs! We even learned how to use the Square Foot Garden Method! A special Thank you to the caring Future Professionals at Paul Mitchell the School Cincinnati as they love Grow Appalachia and Over-the-Rhine People’s Garden): We appreciate your hard work and dedication. XO
Here are a few pics from our morning!! Enjoy and thanks for reading:)
First up was a shopping trip to Funke’s Greenhouses to pick up organic GMO free plants! So much to choose from at Funke’s:)
How many Future Professionals will it take to pull this big guy out?!?! 4!!! This “big guy” is called Mullein, a flowering medicinal plant that is often used in herbal medicine.
We also made a new friend while weeding the garden, Mr. Snail!
Tomato plating lesson by a Paul Mitchell Future Professional! Plant them deep!!
Each Future Professional had a square they were in charge of. We planted Ground Cherries, tomatoes, peppers, chives, basil, swiss chard, lettuce, beets and sunflowers!! We even added a few seashells for FUN!!
Have a fun and safe weekend friends! See you all next week with another new post from Cincinnati, Ohio!!
