Hi, This is Justin Brock at the Red Bird Mission Grow Appalachia. This week has been fun getting everything ready for our last meeting. We had our off season garden preparation training last night, Mark Walden came down and did the training. We sure appreciate him coming down and giving the training, he did a great job. He gave the members a lot of very useful tips on getting ready for the next year. One tip that I didn’t know was an organic way to clean your tools of possible diseases. A hydrogen peroxide and water mix to spray.
At the meeting we gave out organic cookbooks and there cover crop.
yesterday evening the was a very nice couple from Gilead Farms in Berryton, Kansas arrived with a donation goats. It worked out that some of our members with farms got some goats through our Red Bird Farmers pass along project. The project is to breed, raise, sell and pass along the goats to others in the program to get started to have other ways to make an income for there family.
