Lora Lee from the Clay county cooperative extension service came over and taught us how to properly can and freeze our food.

She taught us how to use the caners properly, what kind of utensils we would need to use, which foods to freeze not to freeze, can not to can, how to blanch or cook our food, and just everything you would need to know to get your harvest put away for the winter.

After the training we gave everybody a case of quart jars, a bushel basket, and a peck basket. And some of the participants did not own a caner so we  provided one of them also.

Also this week we had a group of people from the St. Marks United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro, Tn donate 2,000 pounds of fresh picked green beans to the red bird mission. Two guys drove up with a truck and trailer full of beans, unloaded the beans and we gave them all out free to the community.
