Greetings from Project Worth Outreach. We are located in Menifee County, Kentucky. I am Alex Sanders, Grow Appalachia Site Supervisor for Project Worth Outreach. We have gardeners in Menifee County, Rowan County, Elliott County and Bath County.

Today, I would like to feature one of our families. David and Sandy Freyman are in their second year participating in Grow Appalachia Gardening at Project Worth Outreach . Last year, if my memory serves me correctly, the Freymans raised over 650 pounds of produce. This produce included broccoli, chard, green beans, corn, tomatoes, cabbage, cucumbers, greens, lettuce, peas, sweet peppers, summer squash, zucchini, cantaloupe and green onions. This year they are growing pretty much the same produce as last year. The Freyman’s garden has a total of 900 square feet. They turn in harvest numbers on a weekly basis and I really appreciate this because it makes my job easier. I ask all my gardeners to consider writing a blog post and David Freyman has written at least 2 excellent blog posts over the last 2 years. I believe I am correct in stating the Freymans have only missed one participants meeting in 2 years.

Almost all of our gardeners take their responsibilities as Grow Appalachia Gardening seriously but I believe the Freymans are excellent role models for all of our participants. Please view below photos of the Freyman’s garden and this week’s recipe. Until next week please enjoy the time you spend in your garden and the fruits of your labor. Have a great week.
