One of my gardeners, Michael Price, is having trouble with ants and slugs in his bean plants. He has a very neat garden and has several things planted. He has a variety of beans, carrots, lettuce, cabbage, sweet banana peppers and tomatoes in his garden.
He is looking for a solution to his problem with the ants and slugs. If anyone can help him please feel free to leave me a comment and I will forward the information on to Michael. This is Michael’s third year of gardening and he said he had a good garden last year. Hopefully this year will be as well.

Hi Sandy!
I’m got a small raised bed that I just started last week. I’ve got a small zucchini plant and I can tell that slugs have been nibbling on it.
One remedy that my Mothers has used in the past is to sprinkle coffee grounds around the plant. Since I’ve done that I have not seen any more activity and I’m sure the coffee grounds are acting as good fertilizer as well!
I’ve also heard that slugs do not like beer. Here is how to make a ‘beer trap’.

Hope this helps and let me know how this works for you!
Use the book Carrot Loves Tomato! It is a great reference book on companion planting and organic means of eliminating pests.
