OMG! It’s really February 28th.  What happened to the month?  Last month the garden was all a dream.  A perfect dream at that!  Now it is seeds to split up and distribute, repairs to make and upgrades to complete.  We have been able to obtain materials to rebuild our old greenhouse.

We started last Saturday.  The new roof had to be done first.  The old one had some big holes in it.  As bad as the old greenhouse was, we were able to get about 450 tomato plants, 700 basil plants and other plants for gardens.

We got the new roof completed on Saturday, but winter seemed to set in again and put the brakes on the project until this weekend.

We were able to purchase some additional equipment to help members.  Our Grillo tractor had to have its routine maintenance performed.

We are particularly excited about the new chipper/mulcher since our flat bottom land needs organic material.

Daphne and new member Adam assembled the chipper and began making mulch of the leaves that had accumulated throughout the winter.

It’s still winter but gardening has definitely moved out of the abstract and into the real world.  Marcelle and Jessie are dividing up the bulk seeds for individual orders.  Daphne and Adam are combining cleaning up the grounds of the Community Center with improving the soil.  We are planning Jr. Master Gardener projects for the children and youth.  And OMG!, I forgot–the apple trees need to be pruned.
