Grow Appalachia participants met at the Cowan Community Center earlier in July for a Jam Session. A blueberry and raspberry jam session! Locally grown and delicious raspberries and blueberries were purchased from Letcher County Extension Office to practice the art of jam making. About one dozen GA participants gathered to make their own jams.
Participants ranged in age from one to eighty and worked together. We also had some homemade blueberry muffins for our treat.
Participants were able to take jars, ingredients and experience home to make their own. I have heard from several who have had success making their own jams at home since our session. One participant made blueberry cupcakes from scratch with blueberry jam in the frosting for her daughter’s 1st birthday party.
The blueberry cupcakes sound delicious. What I good idea.
* what a good idea
We always need a snack and now everyone expects it. We had wonderful zucchini muffins today when we made pasta sauce. Thanks for checking in with us.
Nothing better than fresh raspberries!
