Last week several of us from ASPI and our high school interns visited the Laurel County Grow Appalachia site. We met up at the Laurel County African American Heritage Center. Then, their staff showed us around their community garden. They have a great space for their community garden. The site looks really good and each family has a sizable plot.

After that we visited the site where their high tunnel is located. The next stops were two home gardens which were both big gardens. We were all very impressed by the gardens that we saw that day and we greatly appreciated the hospitality of Wayne Riley and the rest of the Laurel County Grow Appalachia staff. We all enjoyed spending the day checking out their gardens and getting some new ideas for our garden!
