A fantastic time was had by all last night at St. Thomas Lutheran Church! The church’s air conditioning system recently went out; requiring a hefty amount of money to repair. Despite the heat – and with the help of a couple of fans – the ladies over at Mujeres Unidas organized a great event to raise money for their beloved church. Everyone pitched in to help – from decorating the tables with colorful silks and fresh fruit to cooking great food (several indian dishes, black beans and rice, and even cactus!) the event was a huge success, enjoyed in great company and joyful spirit.

Over 65 people attended the event! So many bodies in one room sure did make it toasty in there – but this didn’t seem to bother anyone in the least.

The dessert table - filled with fresh fruit, flan, chocolates, and a beautiful three-milk cake made by Gabriella.

Personally, I really enjoyed meeting everyone and witnessing the generosity of those that came out. It’s truly amazing how powerful a supportive community can be.

Thanks to everyone who came out to support St. Thomas Lutheran Church and Mujeres Unidas! $1200 was raised towards a new air conditioning system!
