Last night ASPI had a fun booth set up at the Longest Day of Play in Mt. Vernon. The Longest Day of Play is a family event that encourages being healthy. The interns from the Nature Center at Livingston had some activities in addition to the Grow Appalachia activities. One of our activities was for kids to plant a seed. We made a bunch of little origami newspaper containers filled with soil for the kids to take home with them. They had a choice of sunflower, pumpkin, and cucumber seeds. We also had some zucchini seeds, but no one seemed interested in them.
The other activity we had was for the kids to paint a rain barrel. The kids had a lot of fun sprucing up our rain barrel!
