Finally, we have had a few warm dry days and we are gonna be able to do some more tilling and preparing of garden plots. We have been so anxious to get all of our ground worked and ready to receive seeds and some cole crop plants.

We have placed our order for Broccoli,  Cauliflower and cabbage.  We plan on distributing them next week at our Grow Appalachia meeting and will be encouraging our participants to get them, as well as their potatoes and onions, planted soon while the dry weather holds. The way the weather is in our area the spring only offers a few small windows of dry weather to get these gardens in and you really must take advantage of every day you get.

Our seedlings in our greenhouse are still doing well.  Now that we have a source of electricity to the greenhouse.  We have managed to keep a pretty consistent temperature in there with only the use of two tiny electric heaters running only through the night and opening up the doors through the warmth of the day. We also put together a gravity fed watering system that – with just a little tweaking -will do a good job of providing water to our plants.

Yep, spring has sprung and the work has begun… Here we go!
