Merry Christmas from Henderson settlement
Grow Appalachia participants and friends gathered together with Kristin and Courtney from the Whitley County Extension office to learn how to create Christmas Wreaths using materials found in nature.

Every year at this time the Whitley County Extension Office offers classes on wreath making. These classes serve a dual purpose, they’re fun and they provide a chance for the participants to learn how to make a product which can be made and sold or given as a gift. Several of the participants expresses an interest in the wreath press, the extension agents brought with them. Kristin explained how they had purchased a kit and built the press last year, after several years of using vise grips to bend the wires on wreaths.
When one of the participants asked Kristin, “Where did you find the materials to make the wreaths?” she replied, “I found them in my friends yards and in the mountains.” She brought, Pine, Juniper, Boxwood, and Pine Cones to use in making wreaths.
