At one point in time, Loren and Pasha were living in Florida and trying to decide if they wanted to move to Virginia or Bosnia. Thankfully, they landed in Coeburn, VA. Between their day jobs, they’ve managed to convert a hilly property into a productive, market garden.
Pasha and Loren have a lower garden and an upper garden, and BrambleCliff Farm has become a stalwart of the Norton Farmer’s Market, with an assortment of tomatoes, unusual peppers and interesting winter squash.
Last spring, they inoculated about 100 shiitake logs, and those have begun producing, so it’s another thing that will be offered in 2026.

Pasha and Loren are one of the Grow Appalachia sites that we always try to visit with interns, visiting leaders and so forth. They’ve worked hard and are an inspiration to newer growers.
