This summer, our four teen garden apprentices, Latoya, Jonathan, Brandi Lynn, and Alexis, are truly flourishing in the LPH Community Gardens and inspiring all of us along the way.
From keeping our gardens looking beautiful with their steady maintenance work to lending a hand at workshops and garden parties, these young leaders are proving what a big impact they can make. They even organized and ran their own plant sale table at a recent community-wide event, turning extra sprouts into a little spending money.
Recently, they joined their first-ever staff meeting at Community Matters. We expected polite yawns, but instead they wowed us with thoughtful, insightful questions about how our nonprofit operates, what each staff member does, and how their roles play into the “big picture.”
It’s clear that these teens are growing more than just vegetables—they’re growing skills, confidence, and a real connection to their community. We can’t wait to see what they’ll do next!

I love this update! Thanks for sharing.
Glad you commented so that I could realize that our pictures had disappeared. You just have to have those smiling apprentice faces to go along with the update!
