Hello from McCreary/Scott Grow Appalachia program.

WOW! Has this been a rollercoaster spring as far as weather is concerned.  Cold, hot, cold, hot, wet, Wet and more WET!   Many of our participants have reported a slower start, however, those with a high tunnel or a green house structure seem to be ahead of the curve.   GA participants have the markets in our area stocked with plants at the Scott County Market and both plants and produce at the McCreary County Market.

We have several new components to our program this year, first being a plot of Turkey Red Wheat! Second, is a partnership with the University of Tennessee helping pilot a program “Lets Grow Tennessee”.  This is an exciting opportunity, and we look forward to sharing more details in the upcoming weeks.

As we enter June we are in high spirits and looking forward to all this season has in store, from fresh produce, fellowship, learning opportunities and wholesome, delicious, canned goods put away for those cold winter months.
