Scott Christian Care Center’s Grow Appalachia program is off and running! Our program serves Scott County, TN and McCreary County, KY, and we have had a tremendous response from both counties this year.  It looks like we will have a total of 84 gardeners in our program.   Our first participant meeting was on February 9th, where we introduced the gardeners our Grow Appalachia team, and offered a class on basic gardening. It was a full house!

Each of our gardeners received a participant binder, full of helpful gardening information.

Some of the topics covered in the basic gardening class was:

.  Frost dates/ plant hardiness zones

.  Purchasing seeds/seed starting

.  Garden Planning

.  Fertilizers/Composting
