Young people are some of the mightiest hands that visit our LPH Community Gardens. We were thrilled to spend a recent Tuesday morning in the Sassafras Garden with students participating in the summer enrichment program at our neighborhood school. The Oyler Community Learning Center serves students in grades pre-school through 12th, and the school sits just a block-length walk away from the garden.

Students helped us weed, water, and plant some summer crops and succession plants. We even got crafty and made some garden pavers using upcycled objects from the Cincinnati Recycling & Reuse Hub. Not only did we get a lot of garden tasks completed, but we also had a ton of fun!
