Community Food Initiatives’ gardeners are eager for Spring and getting the most out of their gardens. With the mild winter we’ve had, the ground is ready, too and the participants at the Season Extension Workshop got the information they need to get started. Taught by CFI Board Member and Master Gardener Keith Wilde, participants learned about topics including soil and air temperature, germination and hardening, best crops to use in season extension, low tunnels, high tunnels and cold frames. Then, they got their hands busy building a low tunnel from scratch at the Eastside Community Garden. Green thumbs up!
