Earlier this week, while we settled in at our desks trying to thaw from the early morning dip in mercury (16 degrees, hellooo?!), I reached out to everyone at Grow Appalachia HQ with a simple request: What vegetable varieties have they planted…and enjoyed? I’ve written many variety selection-related pieces, but this personal addition from Grow Appalachia staff is something special, and I hope you try these veggies for yourself! Chris (Social Enterprise Manager) recommends:
- Cherry Tomatoes: Sungold
- Full-sized Watermelon: Sweet Favorite
- Beets (red): Merlin
- Slicing Tomato: Big Beef
- Eggplant: Ichiban
- Basil (traditional sweet): Genovese
- Tomato: Russian 117 (Difficult to find seeds)
