Beth Massey here, Grow Appalachia Coordinator at Alderson Food Hub. It’s official, we reached our goal for funding our not for profit grocery store on March 17. It’s so exciting. The work parties with hub member volunteers have created a great space. We are starting to fill the shelves and looking forward to an April 1 (no fooling) opening day and an April 24 Grand Opening.
The seeds of hope have become a full grown crop of expectation that we will have plenty of fresh and preserved food for our entire community. We have several local growers signed up to help fill our shelves and with six new market gardeners working with Grow Appalachia the goal is to have most of our produce needs filled by local producers. We thank all who have helped in any way to make this dream a reality.
