Fire and Trooper a couple days ago.

Yes I know our horses have nothing to do with the garden but it’s the only picture I have to show what Harrogate, TN looks like right now. This was Wednesday and one of the 1st times they had come away from the shelter of their barn porch to play since the storms began the 16th. They had cabin fever I guess. We’ve had snow, sleet, snow, rain, snow, snow snow. Are we trapped in the movie Groundhog Day? There’s been no school in Claiborne Co for 2 wks LMU has been shut down for 2 wks as well. Whew!

Well I’m afraid there’s little to report here. I’ve literally only been out twice since the 16th. We have one car we’ve managed to get out with to get groceries twice. My van still can’t get out because of the piles of snow and icy patches. Bonnie and I had planted onions and tomatoes on Valentines Day but then couldn’t get to the building to check on them. Thank goodness due to the negative temps that were predicted that week we put them in the building not the greenhouse. Bonnie got over there a couple days ago and reported they are up. She would have loved to have gotten them into the greenhouse where they would get more sun but as it’s an ice rink out there she didn’t dare try to get them down the hill to the greenhouse.
We’ve had to cancel all our meetings so far because of the inaccessibility of the road to the building. Hopefully we can meet on March 9th. I’m curious to see how well the high tunnel and greenhouse plants have managed through the negative temps.
I’ve been able to make some extra special meals with canned, frozen and stored vegetables from last years garden. Such blessings!
