Dorothy Feltner reporting in from Lotts Creek. I’m once again behind on posting, but I will catch up quick.

I had written a United Way grant last month for increasing food security through the school garden and the food pantry. We were approved for $1000, which will go towards some perennial purchases for the Lotts Creek Learning Garden site (previously the school garden site) and some extra food for the pantry (purchased through God’s Pantry) during the winter months.

On the note of Lotts Creek Learning Garden, I have created a research proposal that is still in development. The aims of my research include cash flow estimates, start up costs, inputs, outputs, possible business structures, and cultural considerations. Mark Walden will be leading a high tunnel installation on the site next month, which will allow for better access to fresh produce during the colder months and higher overall production.
