This spring at the plant sale a new friend came. We got to talking beans and I gave her some of our saved heritage beans. A few days later she brought me some of her heritage beans. She’s originally from Harlan. These beans are from there. They are called “Gilbert’s Fall Beans” I planted them at the end of June and the bean beetles have had their way with them but I was able to harvest a pretty good mess today. These were just the one’s that were still in fairly green pods. It’s hard to tell in the picture but some beans are red and white and some are purple and white. The dried ones I will use to grow next year.
