I’m Dorothy Feltner, VISTA with Lotts Creek Community School. Over the week, we have had some great success. Kale is sprouting up in the greenhouse and our tomatoes are getting ripe. The school garden now has two service learners, which are students at Cordia. We have been planting cabbage and will begin planting broccoli and cauliflower next week. The Hugelkultur workshop I ran went well. 15 people showed up, which is more attendance than the last two workshops combined. Cheers! A soil conservationist from the USDA is coming to visit in September. I’m very excited to begin working with him and the local conservation district. A plan for partnership with the technical college is also in works. Hopefully there will be more success to come.
