Greetings from High Rocks! You may have read a blog post a while back, by Rachel Wilson, about our farm stand in Hillsboro and its start up. For the past few weeks we have been opening up our stands on Wednesdays for passers by. With this being a new project we are still trying to spread the word and spark interest in local farmers and shoppers. At this point in time our stand consists of mostly kale, garlic scapes, basil, and tomato plants. This Saturday we hope to have a full stand of produce from our participants and our own Grow Appalachia gardens for the Little Levels Heritage Fair!
HIGH ROCKS: I am from the Letcher County Grow Appalachia. If my niece Carrie is in your group, say hello to her for me.
The farm stand looks great! My name is Marcus Plumlee. I’m an AmeriCorps VISTA and I work at the Grow Appalachia central offices in Berea, Kentucky. I was wondering if you had any bigger pictures of the farm stand. They’re showing up a bit small on the blog. If you have bigger pictures and you’re just having trouble making them look right with WordPress, you can e-mail them to me at marcus@growappalachia.org and I’ll see what I can do.
Very nice!
