This week we would like to highlight one of our new participants, Ms Teresa Young. This is one very interesting and talented lady. Ms. Young has a love of gardening that is hard to surpass. She also has a love of sharing and teaching new gardeners.
Along with her family, Teresa grows 4 different gardens.
The gardens are in production year round and they produce thousands of pounds of food!
Nothing goes to waste from these gardens. Teresa cans and preserves hundreds of jars of food each year. She also gives fresh vegetables to our local food bank and shares with many of her neighbors.
Along with her father, Theresa is a master bee keeper. She has several hives that produce hundreds of pounds of honey a year. She plants a special garden just for her bees!
She frequents our local farmers market where she makes her local honey and fresh vegetables available to the public.
She is very friendly and free with her knowledge of bee keeping and gardening. She is always willing to help out other GA participants in any way that she can.
She is also a very avid and knowledgeable at hunting, gathering, preserving and sharing all the wild fruit, berries and nuts she finds.
Teresa showing and sharing with participant Ashlee Glaspy, how to propagate new cutting from plants.
She has a beautiful garden of local wildflowers that she has transplanted to help preserve our native plants.
We look forward to seeing what she produces in her gardens this year.
Another shot of a very productive garden. I love the martin houses that attract the little pest controlling friends.
Teresa is a rare gem that we are proud to have in our program this year.
