The timing is perfect as Letcher County moves to open and have a successful Farmer’s Market in downtown Whitesburg. I was very proud to represent Grow Appalachia at the Farmer’s Market meeting and see much opportunity for success for our participants at the Market.   Alexa Arnold, Community Farm Alliance organizer was present and gave much information and encouragement.  At least one dozen of our participants have stated they will be devoting some of their garden for the upcoming market.

Ben West, who is leading the project spoke to participants at a recent meeting to share details of the market and let participants know how they might become involved. Whitesburg and Letcher County residents are very hopeful growers will be able to supply options for local produce. Grow Appalachia anticipates and hopes to make a definite a definite contribution to upcoming Farmer’s Market.
