Grow Sustainab-Lee (Lee Co. Cooperative Extension)
Grow Sustainab-Lee is an initiative for the Lee County Virginia Extension Master Gardener program in cooperation with the Lee County Extension Office. This is our fourth year working in collaboration with Grow Appalachia and we are so excited to begin this journey! We are thrilled to offer this program to help combat food insecurity in our county, as well as to help people be better stewards of the land and available resources by learning to use organic gardening practices.
Since 1979, Virginia Extension Master Gardeners have worked to provide unbiased and research-based horticultural information for home gardeners. Our mission is to share knowledge and empower communities, which aligns perfectly with Grow Appalachia’s goals and mission. Some of the Extension Master gardeners core values include respecting the environment, each other, and those we serve. In addition, we strive to be wise stewards of our resources and to be held accountable to the organization, each other, and our communities.
The Lee County Virginia Extension Master Gardeners, established in 2019, are a relatively new branch of the Virginia Master Gardener program. We currently offer programs such as Grow Sustainab-Lee and the Lee County Free Heirloom Seed Library. We are always looking for new ways to help our community with gardening related questions and needs.
