The level of excitement for Grow Appalachia in our community continues to amaze me! We have had a ton of donations and support from businesses in our community. Linwood Library providing our meeting rooms. The local Chevrolet Dealership co-owner Joe Mitchell donated gardening tools. Re-max a local reality office provided copies for our meeting. The Ski Barn shipped our community garden soil samples. Fine Line Construction is putting the solar greenhouse shed together for our day care kids!! These are just a few things that are happening to get the gardening ball rolling!

On the contract for our garden participates there are the questions; ‘Why are you interested in becoming a part of the Grow Appalachia project?’ and ‘What do you hope to get out of the project?’

“I have been attempting to grow my own produce for years. Unfortunately, I have not been very successful. I would like to learn more and become a letter gardener. Also, I love Linwood and want to improve our quality of life here.” Emily Eltzroth
“To learn more about growing a garden. Having an organic garden is very important to us, but obviously there are challenges with insects, fungus ect. Looking forward to learning some growing tips and being involved in the community.” Ryan and Melissa Dobbins
“Interested in gardening workshops and being part of a gardening community. I love that it is organic focused!” Alison Flegel
“I love starting plants, watching them grow to reap the harvest. I would love for my four grand children to learn while they are young, to be self sufficient, that they could grow on their own and how to take care of the crop.” Betty Sharp
Not only is Grow Appalachia bringing our community together. It is bringing communities together with other communities! I have worked closely with other sites, asking for advise, or finding ways to pool our resources. Or when I lock myself out of my blog account Beth Massey from Alderson has been there to help!
