Hey everyone — Brian here! This past Saturday the town of Abingdon hosted an Earth Day festival as our weekly Farmers Market was going on. I, with the help of a half dozen high school student, was able to set up a booth with a few flats of various flowers as well as basil and lettuce. Our booth was geared toward teaching kids how to pot and water plants, with as little help from the parents as possible. The event went off without a hitch and nearly every child was excited at the idea, and was able to do a majority of the work.
Needless to say, the flowers went first – and then the basil, followed by the lettuce. We were able to service nearly 300 children with their own personal potted plant! A big thanks to Appalachian Teen Trekkers for their excellent volunteering and Indoor Farms for their donation of two beautiful flats of flowers!
I actually drove by all the excitement on Saturday, but did not get to stop. It looked like lots of cool things going on. Glad your project was a success.
