Groundhog shadow or not, I am seeing spring on the horizon!

Tomorrow Grow Your Own will be hosting its first planting session of 2015 with a group of special needs kids from Abingdon High School; these awesome teenagers love working in the garden and will function as part of our volunteer force in the wake of having an AmeriCorps VISTA.

The list on our roster of planted seeds will include..

  • Thyme
  • Red/Green Lettuce
  • Chives
  • Red/White Onions
  • Daisies

Right now I am organizing our participant binders for 2015, which will include a 2015 class syllabus, Heather Jeffry’s Garden Manual, a harvest record sheet, a workshop schedule, and a Johnny’s Seed catalog.

Our first set of workshops will be held on March 17th at 5PM & March 19th at 10AM – these classes will repeat the following week on March 24th at 5PM and March 26th at 10AM.  If you are in the area, please join us!  We are seeking new participants to join our program who have at least a 20×25 space in their backyard and want to grow their own food!
