I have been busy trying to get all my garden visits in and I am impressed, such beautiful gardens. Again the major complaints are deer and Lynn was busy putting up a fence today to keep the deer out. He was planting several rows of late crops and I wondered how he stood the heat. It was way too warm for me. He has some huge green pumpkins that will thrill his grandchildren when they turn orange. I think there are so many opportunities for gardeners right now in Kentucky but wanted to direct your attention to an article I saw a couple of weeks ago. The article was in Health and Wellness Magazine, Volume 11, Issue 11, July 2014, page 17 and it reads:

  • Obama Signs Monsanto Protection Act  As previously reported, H.R. 933, written by Monsanto, allows Monsanto to override U.S. federal courts on the issue of planting experimental genetically engineered crops across the nation. The government how no power to prevent any crops that are found to be dangerous, nor can any litigation be brought against biotechnology corporations.

I think it is so important that we save our heritage seeds and keep those seed swap sessions going.
